Mah-e-Mir: Pakistan’s bid for Oscars 2017
Karachi, September 26, 2016: The critically acclaimed Mah-e-Mir, one of the best movies to come out from the resurging Pakistani film industry has been nominated by Pakistan’s Academy Selection Committee as the country’s official submission in the Best Foreign Language Film Award Category for the 89th Academy Awards. The film Mah-e-Mir was a departure from the usual fare owing to its intellectual content, stellar writing and superb acting coupled with brilliant music and as such was the number one choice of the committee members.
Distributed nationwide by HUM Films and Eveready Group of Companies, Mah-e-Mir is directed by Anjum Shahzad and written by Sarmad Sehbai. The story is set in contemporary times chronicling the life of a young anarchist poet. While denouncing traditions he goes through the sufferings of love, separation and poverty, which drive him to the edge. In all his sufferings, he discovers the 18th century poet Mir Taqi Mir and as the story progresses, he embodies the intense feelings of love, passion and creative madness of the poet. The film stars Fahad Mustafa, Iman Ali, Sanam Saeed, Alyy Khan and Manzar Sehbai in lead roles. The film's brilliant music score was by Shahi Hassan.
Mah-e-Mir was a critical success and appreciated by the public as well, as many people felt that movies like Mah-e-Mir were a welcome change from the usual fare that is coming out from the film industry these days with a throwback to the time when story, acting, dialogue and music would come together to create a masterpiece in which the beauty of the Urdu language is fully exposed.
Commenting on Mah-e-Mir’s selection for submission to the Oscars, director Anjum Shahzad had this to say: "I am thrilled by the news. For an ensemble of extremely creative cast and crew this film is a labour of love. Each one of us is proud to be a part of it. I would like to thank the committee for considering our effort worthy of representation and would like to take this opportunity to thank the media, cinema owners and above all the audiences for supporting us."
The Pakistani Academy Selection Committee is chaired by two-time Academy Award and Emmy winning documentary filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy and also includes Iram Parveen Bilal as the charge d’affaires, Zeba Bakhtiar, Adnan Siddiqui, Hasan Zaidi, Sheema Kermani, Sarmad Khoosat, Jamshed Mahmood Raza, Jamil Dehlavi and Adnan Sarwar.
Speaking about why Mah-e-Mir was selected by the committee, Hasan Zaidi said "With its indulging cinematography and romanticism of the forgotten value of literature, Mah-e-Mir's characters and plot nostalgically captured the culture and struggle of the artiste, both by and in its creation. We are very excited to put it forth as a sample of Pakistan's rising standards of cinema."
Committee member Adnan Siddiqui shared what made him cast his vote in favour of Mah-e-Mir: "When Manzar Sehbai Sahib's character comes to meet the poet (Fahad Mustafa), and he talks about his understanding of literature, and Urdu literature in particular, that was the crux, the heart and soul of the movie for me".
The Chair de Affairs of the selection committee, Iram Bilal Parveen expressed how happy she is with the selection of Mah-e-Mir for the Oscars, and was especially thankful to the makers of Mah-e-Mir for their contribution to Pakistani Cinema, wishing them best of luck in their journey to the Oscars.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will announce the final list of Oscar nominees on 24th January, 2017, with the presentation show for the 89th Academy Awards scheduled to take place on 26th February 2017. It is hoped that Mah-e-Mir’s local critical success will translate into international selection as well, which will be another feather in the cap of not only Pakistan’s film industry but also Pakistan herself.

ART KI TALAASH- A JOURNEY OF KARACHI
Art ki talaash an event happened on 3rd September 2016 in the busiest city Karachi, where Karachi never sleeps even on Sundays. A large group of people went to search of art and artifacts in Karachi. The event was compiled by Karachi Biennale team whose mission is to fill Karachi with mesmerizing sights of art and design. At this point Karachi needs our attention and mission like these are on point. Karachi Biennale is coming up with various creative projects until the end of the year and next year for Karachi.
A person like me who is born and bred in Karachi was in search of an opportunity to explore my city to a core, Karachi Biennale with the team Starlinks Pr planned a fun-filled treasure hunt Art ki Talaash. Our day started with meeting and greeting our teams over a cupcake by Emaans Cakes and Tea Coffee 9 and handed over our clues for the day. There were 32 clues and we have to read- understand and plan our strategy and rules accordingly. My team was Team Facts and we started our journey with Saddar as Saddar in a morning is easily accessible and then we made our route to defense and then touched sharah-e-Faisal in the way back to reach airport to Gulshan and then back to the where we started our Journey the NJV school. We managed to find 24 clues and rest were some wrong guesses but still our team was one big support for each other.
The places we managed to reach were Empress Market, Saint Patricks Cathedral, Khajur Bazar, Panchmukhi Hanuman Mandir, State Bank Museum, Bottle Gali, Habib Bank Plaza, Napa, Ferrer Hall, Quaid Tomb, Karachi Zoo, Kpt bridge, Sea View, Airport, Safari and rest… The most amazing experience was when we were going as per Google map for Swami Nayaran Mandir and it took us to core muslim area and we were all stuck in searching where the mandir never exist and the map keep on showing we were standing above the mandir.
So yes a big lesson learnt that google map has errors too. Overall the event was well managed by Starlinks PR Shahnaz appa, Turab and Mina Ramzi were fully engaged and we a big help and support.
Best of luck to Karachi Beinnale and Starlinks Pr for upcoming ventures.
Thank you guys for reading.

"How important is to see a Skin Doctor for Acne"
What is Acne?
Acne is a reaction caused by the skin by clogged pores. Pores are usually clogged by dirt and frequent use of makeup products. All the clogged pores are the source of oleaginous salvations which is the most important sign of acne prone skin.
Symptoms and signs of Acne:
1. Extruding whiteheads.
2. Sore blackheads.
3. Redness and bumps all over the skin
4. Pus accompanying pimples.
5. Painful pus secretions.
What people will ask you to do:
1. Cinnamon and honey mask.
2. Applying cider vinegar.
3. Milk, honey and yoghurt mask.
4. Orange peel application.
Do you know all these remedies are not clearly stated anywhere that which skin type do they support? What if it causes more acne? What if applying these masks cures acne for some time and it appears again? What if you get a bad acne scar in the end? There is no guarantee to home remedies. I don’t deny the use of home remedies; these are just a temporary solution. Do you know acne and other skin reactions are dug deep into the skin?
What to do if the remedies stated above don’t work?
My advice for skin reactions and pigmentation issues are always to see a cosmetic physician. For skin, we can’t predict the root cause.
Who is a cosmetic physician?
Cosmetic physicians are medicine practitioners, who prescribe medicines without surgical procedures. These physicians are on the duty to enhance patient’s physical appearance.
Why do I recommend seeing a Cosmetic Physician?
Drinking lots of water and less use of makeup helps in preventing skin damages but what if there is a serious issue breeding down the skin? For that, we have to see an expert. We the people living in Pakistan are very lucky that we have a group of expert Cosmetic Physicians working day and night for their patients. When I ask people for their issues to see a cosmetic physician, they always ask me Who? And Where? Majority living in Pakistan don’t know that now there is an App designed for them to look for the best doctors nearest to them and getting their appointments. I consider myself lucky that one day going through my App store I found this app. The app was titled as “Find my doctor” and just out of curiosity I decided to download it. What I didn’t know was that a decision made out of curiosity would result in a blessing for me. This app is currently working in Karachi and Islamabad, but I hope it soon launches in different cities of Pakistan and benefits the people of Pakistan as it did to me.
MY VERDICT ABOUT “FIND MY DOCTOR APP:
This app is a genuinely a blessing to the residents of Pakistan and for now Karachi and Islamabad only. I wanted an appointment for myself last week and I was too busy to call up ask and make appointments and wait in long lines. And that’s when the downloaded App came to rescue. I made my account and got myself registered as a patient and got the earliest appointment as possible from the nearest skin doctor to me. The App gives you a direct option to call a doctor and book yourself an appointment. The login procedure is very simple, I just had to give my number and for future use, I had to choose my username. Found a skin doctor, directly made a call and booked me an appointment. Find my doctor app made me so content, as I am always in a rush with my baby and can’t stand for too long in the queue to get appointments. Find my doctor app made my life easier.
I am sure now my readers living in Karachi and Islamabad can now easily find a cosmetic physician via “Find my doctor” app. All the links related to this app are stated below for your easy access.

Can You Hair Me?
The following article is already published in Social Diary Magazine.
The hairstyle is a major part of our styling, it’s like a cherry on the top. Going to school or work, how to do your hair every day is a big question mark. For this reason, I have fetched seven hair styles which you guys can make each day of the week.
Monday:
The High Bun- High bun is the easiest job to do with your hair, I have selected this hairstyle on Monday as it is the toughest day to wake up and do hair, the high bun would work perfectly lead with this day of the week.
Tuesday:
The Sophisticated Ponytail- The second day of the week is better than the first day, for Tuesdays I have chosen a modern ponytail which can proceed with both casual or formal dressing.
Wednesday:
The pin-up- Wednesday is even better than Tuesday as you can start counting days till the weekend. For Wednesday you guys can simply straight your hair early morning and part your hair from the middle and just pin them from the both sides, this will give your face and week a dimension and motivation for rest of the days before the weekend.
Thursday:
Half way through- Thursday is the closest day to count hours till Saturday, for the day you can simply part your hairs in a half tie and twist the ponytail and leave the rest of the hairs open, trust me you guys can do this one in some seconds.
Friday:
The TGIF look- For the best day of the week yet not Saturday you guys can make a messy braid on Fridays, mostly Fridays are considered as a half day in schools or at work, this hair style will stay as your best friend till the noon.
Saturday-
Side bun- Saturday is the day which brings on the motivation for another happy yet lazy Sunday, for the day you can make a side bun with a floral hair clip to flaunt off your happy mood.
Sunday:
Of my choice: Sunday is the most important day of the week as you try to do nothing this day, I would suggest you guys to be yourself and let the hair breathe for a day. You can open your hair or just tuck them in into a ponytail of your own choice.
